| Model Number | After reading other reviews I noticed most of the complaints were regarding the instructions. I usually reference instructions when I can’t figure it out (insert man and directions joke here), so I decided to make the purchase and see how difficult it really could be. I liked the price point and the seat looked like it had lots of room for adjustment.First of all, the instructions aren’t that great. I attempted to reference them for 2 items and they weren’t helpful.Overall Fit was decent.Finish on 1 of the brackets wasn’t great and was rusting slightly. Otherwise it wasn’t bad.Tools I used.1. 1/4″ socket wrench.2. 10mm Socket.3. 8mm Socket.4. 4mm Allen Head wrench.5. A screwdriver capable of using a number 3 Phillips bit. The screw heads are less likely to strip when tightening if you use the correct bit. (I started out with a 2, ended up changing to a 3)6. 10mm Open end wrench (not pictured). This was used to tighten the bolts near the seat post.Application : 2011 Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc using factory screw holes near the rear wheel axle. (The brackets cleared my calipers with some room to spare)The 2 issues I had are the seat post mount for the rack, and the handle mount for the child seat itself.1. They provide a long bolt and nut to replace the existing seat post bolt and nut. I however wanted to keep the option of adjust the seat post for storage. I opted to use turn the seat post lock 180 degrees. I had to remove 1 washer to make it work, my plan is to buy a slightly longer quick disconnect seat post bolt.2. The handle that attaches to the child seat has hardware and a space inserted. You need to remove the hardware and spacer. Insert the handle and place the screw/bolt through. Then slide the spacer in on the backside before tightening everything up.Before you attempt to install the rack, Identify the screw holes and I recommend checking the bolt fitment in the frame to make sure the threads are right. Once you have done that screw the bolts in with the allen wrench to clear out the powder coating on the frame. This will save a headache when mounting the rack.For my bike I used the lowest rail position possible (there are only 2) to make the rack level. Once everything was lose fit I tighten screws/bolts from the seat post area down while making sure the rack stayed level. I used my best judgement when tightening everything, I also wanted to avoid stripping out the threads in the bike frame.The seat position on the rack was only thing the instructions were useful for. It should be placed on the last “Rung” of the rack. This will insure the child seat handle isn’t too close to the bicycle seat.Update 10/02/2015The buckle system is a bit tricky at first. Once its adjusted, it is very secure! My son loves going for rides and the seat is performing great. I upgraded the rating to 5 stars. |
| Color | My son is 29 months old, 35 lbs and just over 3′ tall. This seat works perfectly for him. The rack is decent and the seat seems comfortable. I have it back as far as it can go on my 29″ cruiser which surprisingly gives both of us plenty of room. We had a different seat before that worked but he was jammed up behind me. He didn’t seem to mind but I was always afraid I was squishing him when I sat back on my seat. No worries with this model. I even put on the grab ring for him and it doesn’t come close to hitting my butt.I originally bought a Bell child seat which is now on my wife’s bike. I took some side by side pics for comparison. |
| Material | Loved that my daughter couldn’t wait *(Literally) to get into the seat. she was super excited about it It’s easy enough to assemble ***I would recommend watching the videos on here vs. reading the instructions as the pictures on the instructions are small but to each his own. The foot adjustments are easy to make, the seatbelt/tethering system is pretty easy to adjust. I would say the one thing I would like to have seen is a bit more foam for the seat as its gonna get uncomfortable on a long ride *(its about 3/8″ foam that is washable) but aside from that very functional. |
| Power Source | Like previous reviews,upon instill one of the screws broke. We ignored this and replaced the screw and went on. If you are short be ware, I had to raise my seat higher then preferred, I could barely touch my toes to ground for the seat to be installed. We were able to get past this. Used for about 2 weeks and went well, during a ride I heard a noise and realized there was no longer an appropriate space between seat and my tire and one if the screws was rubbing against the tire. Not sure what happened because we were riding for an hour prior without an issue but at this point it’s got be returned and try to find a better option. |
